सुबह का बाजार सूरज निकलने से पहले ही जाग जाता है। सब्जीवाले अपनी टोकरियाँ सजाते हैं और ताजा धनिये की खुशबू गलियों में फैल जाती है। एक छोटा लड़का सिर पर भारी टोकरी उठाए चल रहा है और उसकी माँ ग्राहकों से पैसे गिनकर ले रही है। लोग एक दुकान से दूसरी दुकान तक धीरे-धीरे घूमते हैं, भाव पूछते हैं और अच्छा सामान चुनते हैं। दोपहर होते ही भीड़ कम हो जाती है और दुकानदार छाँव में बैठकर चाय पीते हैं। शाम को फिर बत्तियाँ जल उठती हैं और वही गलियाँ घर लौटते लोगों से भर जाती हैं। लंबी रेल यात्रा हमें धैर्य सिखाती है। खिड़की वाली सीट एक छोटे रंगमंच जैसी बन जाती है, जहाँ खेत, नदियाँ और छोटे-छोटे स्टेशन बिना रुके गुजरते जाते हैं। यात्री एक-दूसरे के साथ नाश्ता बाँटते हैं, अखबार बदलते हैं और अपने शहरों की कहानियाँ सुनाते हैं। बच्चे शीशे से चेहरा सटाकर बिजली के खंभे गिनते रहते हैं। रात को डिब्बा शांत हो जाता है और पहियों की धीमी आवाज लोरी जैसी लगती है। सुबह सब इसी उम्मीद में जागते हैं कि अगला स्टेशन गरम चाय लेकर आएगा।

Frequently asked questions

How do I set up a Hindi keyboard?

Add a Hindi keyboard under your Windows or Android/iPhone language settings. Phones usually offer Hindi through Gboard or similar. Computers can offer Inscript, phonetic or Remington layouts. Which layout you use is up to your keyboard — this tool only looks at the final typed text.

Will Remington or Inscript work?

Both. The tool doesn't look at the keyboard layout, only the resulting text. Several exams specify Inscript or Remington, so check the exam's notice.

How is WPM counted in Hindi?

5 akshars count as one word. An akshar is what renders as a single visual unit — for example "स्ते" is one akshar. Net WPM = gross WPM minus wrong words per minute, and accuracy = correct words ÷ typed words.

My word looks right but was marked wrong — why?

Each word is matched against the word in the same position in the passage, so missing one word can mark the following words wrong too. A zero-width joiner, or typing ड़/क़ a different way, is treated as the same word. A difference in matra or spelling is still counted wrong.

Does my typed text go anywhere?

No. The text stays only in your browser. To show past results, only the score and date are kept in your browser's local storage.

Where do the passages come from?

All written by Falorax, so there's no copyright question. The Hindi passages intentionally avoid nukta letters like ज़, फ़, since they're hard to type on many keyboards.
